The Radarhawk SM aims to remove the need for the 12v outlet by utilizing solar power. This is an efficient, eco-friendly solution to a common problem. On top of that, the SM is a full-featured detector, detecting all radar bands as well as Lasers. [Full Story]

Solar-Powered Radar Detector Due From Q3

LAS VEGAS–Q3 Innovations is introducing one of the first solar-powered radar detectors as well as a consumer-aimed breathalyzers to test for blood-alcohol levels.

The new solar-powered radar detector sits on the dashboard and “literally recharges itself” via solar battery, said Q3 president Chad Ronnebaum. Called the RadarHAWK SM, it is a full-band detector with laser and POP mode detection. It works even on a cloudy day when there is no sun, said the company. It ships in January at a suggested retail of $129. The company plans to sell the detector through online retailers.

Q3 is also offering what is claims is the first breathalyzer for the consumer market to use the same reliable fuel-cell sensors employed in police breathalyzers. Called the AlcoHAWK PT500, it has a suggested price of $300, compared with professional units at $500 to $1000.

The user breathes into the AlcoHAWK, which then calculates blood-alcohol levels. It will be sold initially through specialty catalogs, said the company.

(Independence, Iowa – November 26, 2007) – Q3 Innovations, LLC announces the release of two new RadarHAWK™ units, the RadarHAWK™ Speed Trap™ Tracker and the RadarHAWK™ Traveller II.  These units will compliment the current RadarHAWK™ units released earlier this fall which include, the RadarHAWK™ SE, RadarHAWK™ SBIII, and RadarHAWK™ SM.

The RadarHAWK™ SpeedTrap™ Tracker incorporates a powerful new detection sensor able to spot upcoming speed traps from two miles away.  This unit is the most economical and simplified unit in the RadarHAWK™ series.  With an easy, one-button operation it will correct unintentional speeding and help to ensure safe driving.  The sleek, innovative design is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and capitalizes on the wireless technology to eliminate the need for dangling wires.

Also released is the RadarHAWK™ Traveller II.  This unit is unique in that it is the only detector in the series with bilingual voice alert capabilities.  The RadarHAWK™ Traveller II is performance certified by Speed Measurement Labs, Inc. and is complete with all-band (X, K, Ka) radar and 360-degree laser detection.  This unit features an LED-backlit text display, multiple city/highway modes, voice alerts, and advanced wireless technology.

“The RadarHAWK™ SpeedTrap™ Tracker was primarily designed for the driver who wants help in watching their speed but does not want the stigma or complexity that can be associated with standard radar detectors.  This unit provides help to the driver, alerting them to upcoming speed traps, without sacrificing design and style,” said Brian C. Eddy, CEO.  “In comparison, the RadarHAWK™ Traveller II has upgraded technology and features, such as the selectable voice alert language option, to appeal to the more technology-minded demographic,” said Eddy.

The RadarHAWK™ SpeedTrap™ Tracker (Retail $49.99) and RadarHAWK™ Traveller II ($99.99) come complete with no-slip mounting brackets and two AA batteries.  In addition, the RadarHAWK™ Traveller II unit has two suction cups and a 12V DC coiled power cord.  For more information visit www.q3i.com.
