(INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – July 14, 2008) – Q3 Innovations, LLC is delighted to announce the release of their AlcoHAWK® PT Series breathalyzers and wireless thermal printer. The PT Series utilizes advanced PT Core™ Fuel-Cell Technology. The PT Core™ sensor is robust and lasts for thousands of tests making it suitable for professional testing applications. This advanced sensor technology eliminates false positives and offers greater accuracy and sensitivity than traditional semi-conductor breath alcohol testers, which is important when conducting professional alcohol screening. Breathalyzers using traditional semi-conductor sensors have a higher incidence of false positives from interfering substances such as ketones which can be seen in conditions such as diabetes or people on fad diets.

“We are very excited to offer some of the most economical fuel-cell sensor breath alcohol testers in the world. We take pride in our products and enjoy continuously developing and offering more advanced options for our customers. With the release of the AlcoHAWK® PT Series, the AlcoHAWK® Series now covers the entire spectrum from low cost semi-conductor screeners to professional fuel-cell screeners”, said Brian Eddy, CEO.

The AlcoHAWK® PT Series includes a range of models from the most economical PT400 and PT500 units to the most advanced AlcoHAWK® PT750 unit. The AlcoHAWK® PT500 is available in the United States and has a pressure sensor to ensure the user blows with enough force to start a test and that they continue to blow through the unit throughout the entire test. The AlcoHAWK® PT500P has all the features of the PT500, plus wireless printing capabilities. The AlcoHAWK® PT750 has the most features of the fuel-cell series with passive and active testing, password protection, wireless printing, a rechargeable lithium battery and a USB port to transfer stored test results to a PC. The AlcoHAWK® PT Series units are ideal for professional breath alcohol testing offering wireless printing capabilities with the PT500P and PT750 models. The MSRP for the AlcoHAWK® PT400 is $179.99 (not available in the United States), the MSRP for the AlcoHAWK® PT500 Pro Kit is $299.99, the MSRP for the AlcoHAWK® PT500P Pro Kit is $699.99 (includes wireless printer) and the MSRP for the AlcoHAWK® PT750 Pro Kit is $899.99 (includes wireless printer). Please visit Q3 Innovations online for more information about the new AlcoHAWK® PT Series, www.q3i.com.

Called the RadarHAWK SM, it is a full-band detector with laser and POP mode detection. It works even on a cloudy day when there is no sun, said the company. It ships in January at a suggested retail of $129. The company plans to sell the detector through online retailers.

Q3 is also offering what is claims is the first breathalyzer for the consumer market to use the same reliable fuel-cell sensors employed in police breathalyzers. Called the AlcoHAWK PT500, it has a suggested price of $300, compared with professional units at $500 to $1000.

Q3 provided breathalyzer tests, can koozies, and t-shirts at their booth across from the beverage garden in Teacher’s Park. One team went as far as naming themselves TEAM ALCOHAWK, though not affiliated with Q3, and proudly advertised it on their support bus as they crossed Iowa.

We’re big proponents of breathalyzers here at the Liquor Snob offices, because we think their judicious use can really help you keep out of trouble. One of the biggest names in the consumer breathalyzer industry is Alcohawk from Q3 Innovations, which offers a large line of these Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) testers at varying price points.

A couple months ago we covered the Alcohawk Micro keychain breathalyzer, which has been very popular with our readers, and now we’ve rounded up three more Alcohawk models for review and comparison. We’ve outlined the statistics of each model, as well as our favorite features, and then compared them to one another as well so you’ll have the information you need when you buy your own.
